Hello friends welcome to new FreeCAD tutorial in this tutorial we will learn How to directly open Autodesk Inventor file in FreeCAD. In general when we want to open other CAD software file in FreeCAD we saved those File in neutral file format like STEP or IGES but in this tutorial if you do not have STEP or IGES version of your Autodesk inventor File then do not worry with the help of FreeCAD addon we can open it directly. Fir st head over to Tool and then Add on Manager and search for Inventor you will see addon Inventor Loader install it.

Keep in mind that above addon only able to import Inventor Part File only so download any sample Autodesk inventor part file and you must have at least FreeCADv0.18 or higher version. As we know that Autodesk Inventor files contains a complete ACIS model representation, SAT and SAB files can also be imported into FreeCAD with the help of this addon. Now open the Inventor file.
Now you will see three option First one is Convert to STEP this will convert Autodesk Inventor file into STEP file. Autodesk Inventor files contains a complete ACIS model representation you also open it as SAT and you can also open original inventor file but depend on conversion and complexity of model you may loose some feature in native import.
