Hello friends welcome to FreeCAD tutorial in this tutorial we will learn how to add Prefix and Note to the Dimension in FreeCAD drawing. adding note to the dimension help machine operator to understand the critical dimension that must be achieved.
As you can see that I have converted above 2D drawing into 3D model in FreeCAD with the help of Part Design Workbench and also created drawing with the help of Techdraw workbench.
Let first understand How to add prefix to the dimension. if you see highlighted dimension we can see that it is diameter but FreeCAD not automatically added diameter symbol. We can add prefix using two method.
first is to select the 60 dimension and head over to tollbar area and click on Add prefix diameter symbol. As shown in below image.
Once you click on icon a diameter symbol will get inserted as shown in below image.
In second method Click on Dimension and go to its propriety on data tab you will see Format Spec as shown in image which is editable field you can also copy Diameter symbol paste it will reflect on dimension.
To remove the prefix you can use Format Spec field or you can use remove prefix tool as shown in below image.
Now let’s understand How we can add note to the dimension. For example I want height dimension 30mm as critical dimension to do that click on dimension and add text as shown in below image.
