Calculate Grease Quantity with Bearing Number

Bearing Grease Formula 01

Lubrication have very important role in bearing because it reduce friction and wear. Grease carry out heat generated inside the bearing due to friction. Grease create a oil film to increase the bearing life. In this article we will learn how to calculate grease quantity with respect to bearing number.

Bearing Grease Formula 02

To calculate the grease quantity required for a bearing we require three things first is bearing number, second is Bearing OD and Bearing width that we can easily measure if we have Vernier caliper or from bearing catalogue.

Bearing Grease Formula 03

Let’s take example of bearing number 6309 which is deep groove ball bearing whose required dimensions are as follow from SKF website.

Bearing Grease Formula 04

When we put above value in our formula OD x Width x 0.005 we get grease quantity 12.5 gram as shown in below image.
